Enjoy!

Louis Leung
Coming from a previous background as a project manager and producer for films and commercials I by default went back to videography as a tool for marketing in our social media driven world.

I was in charge of filming and editing our short format videos and accompanying thumbnails for our Instagram page.
One of the short format videos to quickly capture the city area we were tasked to promote.

The videos were edited in Adobe Premiere Pro.
A self-portrait in a chosen style that inspired me. I went with Ukiyo-e style, great inspiration and a starting point from Kabuki Actor Ōtani Oniji III as Yakko Edobei by Tōshūsai Sharaku (Japanese, active 1794–95).

The portrait was made using Adobe Photoshop.
Three book covers is various different styles for the book "Förvillelser", meaning delusions, by swedish author Hjalmar Söderberg.

The thought process behind the three different styles from left to right are as following:

1 - A minimalistic cover using only geometric shapes to convey and summerize the content of the book.

2 - This book cover is inspired by the time when the book was first published in 1895. Words that summerize the book on the cover in a serif font to emphasize the serious tone of the book. The red color to highlight the book's names and author.

3 - Lastly a book cover that was a challenge to create a cover that is more abstract where the reader doesn't get much information on the content of the book from the cover.

The book covers were made using Adobe Illustrator. Mockups were made in Adobe Photoshop.
A font speciment for the display font, Lithos by Carol Twombly.

The font is probably most recognized in the logo for the game, Banjo-Kazooie. With that in made I made a font specimen inspired by the Nintendo 64 era of gaming.

A playful font speciment to match the playfulness in the font Lithos that was in itself inspired by greek inscription.

The font speciment was made with Adobe Illustrator.
Bad design was the task of finding a "bad design" in our city and re-design it to improve it.

I found a poster for dog training in my local park and see great potential in the existing design that with small tweaks could be improved to better legibility and a more playful tone.

With some better hierachy in the distribution of text, colors and simple illustration I hope to capture the essence of the poster more efficiently and add a sense of playfulness to the design.
A mockup was made to test my own design and a comparison to the original design.

The re-design was kept very simple in terms of illstrations, text and colors to help with printing costs while still convey the same message.

The re-designed poster was created in Adobe Illustrator. Mockups were made in Adobe photoshop.
Genius Loci, "the spirit of a place". This task involved finding a place, identifying what makes it unique, and then using the shapes, emotions, and colors of the place to create a logo that captures these features. I chose Malmö city library as my subject.

The library itself is divied in two parts, an old part that is an old castle and a new part that is a danish design with tall glass windows letting in light into the library.

Using different parts of the building, I created letters and used these to spell out the name of the library. The colors, blue and orange were taken from the brick exterior of the old building and blur from the glass windows of the new building.
Mockups were made with the final logo to see how it worked in different sizes and purposes.

The logo design was made in Adobe Illustrator and the mockups were made in Adobe Photoshop.
A presentation was made using Adobe InDesign.
Stillsphotography in a studio using both soft and hard light to create different expressions. Fellow students were used as models.

Photos shot in RAW with a Fujifilm X100T, photos were edited in Adobe Lightroom.
